A quick brief about this project

Overview

This project was one of the assignments I completed during my enrollment in the Artsoup UI for mobile game by Instructor Trieu Minh Nhon. It entailed developing a simple and classic idle farming game for mobile platforms.

What I actually did in the project

After finalizing the art style and gameplay, my next step involved researching the necessary game screens and developing four key components: the Main screen, Shop screen, Daily login interface, and Settings menu, along with an additional popup feature.

Problem Statement

The project was confined to the genre of idle farming games, limiting the scope of innovation in both gameplay and UI design. With constraints on creativity and a restricted number of screens, the project posed both advantages and challenges for me.

Challenges

My main challenge in this project was researching a suitable art style and gameplay, which required significant time and effort to explore elements from various idle games. However, the restricted number of screens made the research process more manageable, facilitating documentation collection for my game.

The art direction that I was going for

My choice was straightforward, as I went for the cute Korean line art style, which aligns with my strengths in art. The game's UI and art direction were heavily influenced by HyperBeard's "My Dear Farm", although the game was still in development at that time, requiring me to work with the research I had conducted.

Isometric Design Elements

I used an isometric grid view to meticulously craft every design element. With a focus on refining round and cute shapes, I consciously omitted certain texture details. This deliberate approach resulted in some of the cutest game art I've ever produced.

A Cute Idle Farming Game Design

A Cute Idle Farming Game Design

Designing this cute mobile idle game was a fun and rewarding experience. The project taught me the basics of game design, user interface, and the importance of visual appeal. Working on this project, I learned how to balance simplicity with engagement. The process was a great introduction to game design, and I was thrilled with the positive feedback from my classmates.
